The Harris 0620F1J is a phos-copper brazing alloy containing zero percent silver, designed for use in joining copper and brass components in applications where cost efficiency is a priority. This alloy is most commonly used in HVAC and plumbing systems, where copper-to-copper connections are frequent, and minimal joint clearance is possible.
With a chemical composition primarily of copper and phosphorus, the alloy creates a strong metallurgical bond during brazing without requiring external flux when applied to copper. Its physical characteristics make it suitable for manual torch brazing, with flow and wetting properties that allow it to bridge narrow gaps under controlled heating conditions.
Because it contains no silver, the alloy is not suitable for use with ferrous metals or in applications exposed to sulfur-containing atmospheres, as the joint integrity could be compromised. This rod is often selected for refrigeration lines, plumbing installs, and other general-purpose jobs that do not require the enhanced fluidity or strength that silver-bearing alloys provide.
Each rod is 20 inches long, with a 1/8-inch diameter, and is packaged in a tube of 28 sticks, making it ideal for professional or bulk-use settings. The packaging is designed to protect the rods from moisture and contamination during storage and transport.
